So some of you may already know about the "rat saga" that has been going on in my house for the last couple of weeks. But for the rest of you who don't, let me quickly fill you in:

It is my belief that there are in fact a colony of rats living in the walls and ceiling of my bedroom. Let me clarify, not IN my room, AROUND my room. I know this because I can hear them scurrying around at all hours of the day and night. I also know this because I can hear them squeaking. Ew. So lately it's sounded like they all scurry about at the same time and then all of the sudden it's like they run into something and get stuck and there's a thunk and then it stops.

Moving on.

So today I learned of a concept that I sort of wish I didn't know. It's called a "Rat King". Thank you ever so much Dave Hill.

This is definitely not a rat king:

Nor is this...
THIS, this is a Rat King!

Today is halloween. Tonight I will not be going to any costume parties or pumpkin carving, instead I will be spending the evening in my house with my close friends making apple cider and pumpkin bread. All the while answering the door and handing out candy to the ADORABLE children in ghosty costumes. The day is already starting off on the right foot, I walked out side and was greeted with the overwhelming smell of fresh rainfall on thirsty pavement. Coffee and warm scones followed when I went back inside.

This quarter is already zooming past me and that's the way I like it. I am close to half way done and then I'll be a graduate. DONE. Well maybe. Next step? Make some $$$ and build my incredible tree house.

Taken in Seattle, some rainy month in 2006. I can't totally remember. The point is that I'm longing to wear my white boots in the rain soaked leaves again. I love fall. There really isn't much I don't like about fall, let's see:

*Brisk air
*The first rain showers after the summer dry spell
*Daylight saving, fall BACK that means one more hour of sleep people
*pumpkin flavored everything
*farms, hayrides, pumpkin carvings, everything that goes along with that
*Thanks Giving
*My Day of birth
*scarves, mittens, coats, and boots

Le Watch Obsession.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

So I just wrapped up an eventful weekend. I'm left with a slight sun headache and that feeling your face gets when you've been outside in the sun all day and it feels all tight and funny. Friday night was spent with friends, eating a homemade dinner, and capping off the evening with a bike ride to the beach. I spent saturday in LA working on a dress mock-up for the American Heart Association. It's going better than the first go around...Later that evening, Laurel and I went to Hollywood and saw Girl Talk perform. Sweat, dancing, crazy people, middle aged dancing queens, strobe lights, and toilet paper? Yes. On the walk back to the car afterwords, I felt like an old woman, my lower back was in a pinch and I was trying to keep my composure and walk like a normal human being. Sister bonding.
Church was good on sunday, Lou just wrapped up a series on friendship. After church a bunch of us went out to lunch at Lola's on 4th st. Some of the best tortilla soup I've ever had. After lunch there were more bikes, more beach, more sun, ice cream, and tired limbs. Tonight home work calls my name, but I've much enjoyed not having quite so much to do this week. Weekends like these remind me how much I love Long Beach. I love the people in my life, I love the house I live in...though it may be infested with rodents and other creatures... All in all this is a very good chapter in my life. This weekend felt more like summer than July. The 80 degree weather helped a bit too. Another day another freckle, another story to tell.

This is what I found when I searched my name on the internets.

1. 40% of the letters are vowels. Of one million first and last names we looked at, 29.7% have a higher vowel make-up. This means you are well envoweled.

2. In ASCII binary it is...01001010 01101111 01100100 0111101 00100000 01000100 01100001 01101001 01101100 01100101 01111001

3. Backwards, it is YDOJ YELIAD

4. In pig latin, it is ODYJAY AILEYDAY

5. People with this first name are probably female. So, you are constantly overcharged for beauty products.

Oops! The top two are both Givenchy, I purposefully did not post any Jean Paul Gaultier because I thought his couture show was a bit of a mess. My bad.
Some fashion picks.
